Join us for a fun, feel-good day of American mahjong benefiting DSACT (Down Syndrome Association of Central Texas) and its mission to support individuals with Down syndrome and their families throughout Central Texas. There are two ways to play, so pick the seat that fits your style. Tournament Play: Built for players who know the game and love a little friendly competition. You'll play three rounds, each packing four fast-paced games into one hour, with prizes awarded to top finishers. The pace is quick, the energy is high, and the bragging rights are real. Social Play: All the tiles, none of the clock. Enjoy relaxed, open play with no timed rounds, just good company and great mahj at whatever pace your table likes. Whether you're coming with your regular mahj crew or signing up solo, both options include light bites, drinks, and the chance to be part of a joyful community event with real impact. Proceeds benefit DSACT, which provides education, resources, connection, social opportunities, and advocacy for individuals with Down syndrome and their families in the Central Texas community. Seats are limited, so grab your spot and get ready to mahj for more.
12 games across the day. Rounds are timed — when 60 minutes are called, the round ends even mid-hand.
Players rotate tables by the traditional National Mah Jongg League pattern — the dealer holds their table while the others shift a set number of tables each round. Predictable and familiar, ideal for league play.
Permanent East: an experienced player is anchored at East at each table for the whole event (they run scoring and keep pace) while the other three seats rotate around them.
The opening round is drawn at random; Fixed rotation begins from round two.
Standard competitive rules with self-pick +10, jokerless +20, and graduated throw penalties. Points are cumulative across all 3 rounds.
