SMS / Text Messaging Program
Mahj Events LLC operates an optional SMS messaging program for app.mahj.events. This page explains what texts we send, how you opt in, and how to opt out.
Opting in to text messages is optional and separate. Your consent to receive texts from Mahj Events is its own dedicated choice — it is not part of our Terms of Service, Privacy Policy, or account sign-up, is never required to use Mahj Events, and is never a condition of any purchase. You can use Mahj Events fully without providing a phone number or opting in to texts.
What messages we send
All texts from Mahj Events are transactional and account-related — tied to events you choose to join or host, and the groups you belong to. We do not send marketing or promotional text messages. Messages are sent from +1 (844) 984-1295 and may include:
- Event invitations from a host or group organizer
- Event reminders and schedule updates
- Registration, waitlist, and cancellation notices
- Waitlist openings when a spot becomes available
- Substitute requests when a player is needed
- Messages from organizers or other players (announcements, game chats, and direct messages)
- Floor-call alerts for tournament directors
- Class and session booking confirmations and reminders
- Account and service notifications
How you opt in
Providing a mobile number is optional and is never required to use Mahj Events. Entering a phone number alone does not opt you in — opt-in is always a separate, deliberate action through a dedicated SMS consent control that is distinct from creating an account and from agreeing to our Terms of Service. You opt in in one of two places, only after affirmatively checking an unchecked SMS consent box or turning on the messaging switch yourself:
- During sign-up — after you add a mobile number to your profile, a separate, unchecked SMS-only consent checkbox appears with this language:
“I agree to receive recurring automated text messages from Mahj Events about my events and groups, including invitations, reminders, substitute requests, messages from organizers and other players, and account alerts. Message frequency varies. Msg & data rates may apply. Reply STOP to unsubscribe, HELP for help.”
- In Settings → Notifications — a “Receive text messages” master switch you can turn on or off at any time.
Your consent is recorded with a timestamp and source. You can change it whenever you like.

Message frequency varies based on your activity and notification preferences. Message and data rates may apply.
You can opt out at any time by replying STOP to any message — we’ll send one confirmation and no further texts. Reply HELP for help, or email hello@mahj.events. You can also turn off texts in Settings → Notifications.
How we protect your number
We will never share or sell the mobile information (including phone numbers) of users who opt in to our messaging program with third parties or lead generators for marketing or promotional purposes. See our Privacy Policy for how we handle your information.
