What is the card, and why does it change each year?
The card is the National Mah Jongg League's list of legal hands. A new one comes out each year, and MahjOS follows the current card.
In American Mahjong, the card lists the hands you're allowed to make. The National Mah Jongg League publishes a fresh card every year, so the hands change from one year to the next.
MahjOS keeps up with the card for you: the Hand Tracker follows the current year's card, and hands you logged in earlier years stay saved with the card they were made on. If your group manages its own card, a group admin keeps it up to date in the group's settings.
