What is the card, and why does it change each year?
The card is the National Mah Jongg League's list of legal hands. A new one comes out each year, and MahjOS follows the current card.
In American Mahjong, the card lists the hands you're allowed to make. The National Mah Jongg League publishes a fresh card every year, so the hands change from one year to the next.
MahjOS follows the current year's card. When a new card comes out, you can switch to it so the hands you log match the card you're playing.
