Account & data deletion

Mahj Events LLC operates MahjOS. You can delete your account and its associated data, or delete specific data while keeping your account. You can email a request even if you have uninstalled the app or cannot sign in.

Delete my account and associated data

In the app or on the web

  1. Sign in and open Profile → Settings → Account.
  2. Find the Danger zone and choose Delete.
  3. Read the disclosure, type the email address or sign-in phone number shown, and choose Delete account.
Open account settings

If you are the only owner of a group, transfer ownership or delete the group first. Active lessons block deletion for both clients and teachers. For a requested lesson waiting for teacher approval, the teacher must decline the request, or you can contact support; clients cannot withdraw it themselves yet. Pending or confirmed bookings must be canceled or completed before account deletion. If deletion is blocked or fails, email us for help.

Request deletion by email

Email hello@mahj.events with the subject “Mahj Events account deletion request” and your account email address or sign-in phone number. We may need to verify account ownership before deleting data. Do not send your password or a sign-in code.

Request account deletion

Sending an email starts a request; it does not immediately delete your account.

What is deleted and what is kept

Account deletion is permanent. Your sign-in account, personal account profile, ratings, achievements, registrations, and hand-tracker history are removed. Active club dues memberships end: cancellation is immediate when possible, and renewal stops at the end of the current billing period at the latest.

Uploaded account and teacher photos, including offering images, are removed after successful account deletion. Cleanup is queued immediately and runs in the background, with retries as needed and removal within 30 days. If account deletion fails, your photos remain. Copies already downloaded by others are outside our control.

Minimal billing records remain, including your name and email on past ticket purchases, donations, and lesson bookings. Financial and audit records can also remain with the account reference removed. Deleting an account does not itself issue a refund.

Restricted records of imported tickets retain their ticket reference or normalized ticket-holder name and email for ticket auditing and to prevent duplicate admission when guest lists are imported again. These matching records are not publicly visible and remain with the event's ticket records.

Shared record shells and game results may remain in anonymized form. Your message and announcement text and quote-request contact details are removed or replaced with anonymous placeholders. Teacher profiles are unlisted and their personal fields, links, and images are cleared; historical teacher and offering records may remain without your personal details.

PostHog analytics profiles, events, and recordings associated with your account are included in the cleanup process and removed within 30 days after successful account deletion. Cleanup retries continue until the provider confirms completion.

Delete specific data while keeping my account

Delete an individual hand-log entry

  1. Connect to the internet, sign in, and open Hand Tracker.
  2. The tracker shows entries for the current year’s card.
  3. Find the entry in Recent Activity, or choose View History to open History.
  4. Tap the trash icon beside the entry you want to remove. Screen readers announce it as “Delete [hand name] log.”

Only that hand-log entry is deleted; your account and other entries remain. Tracking progress is recalculated from the remaining logs. Delete entries while online so the change reaches your account. If an entry reappears or you cannot remove it, email us using the request option below.

Logs from older cards are not shown in the current tracker. To delete them while keeping your account, email a specific data deletion request with the card year and the entries to remove, or ask us to delete all logs for that year.

Request other data deletion

Email hello@mahj.events with the subject “Mahj Events specific data deletion request.” Include your account email address or sign-in phone number, describe the data to remove, and say that you want to keep your account. Include dates or other details that help us find the records.

Request specific data deletion

We review these requests individually, verify ownership where needed, and explain what can be deleted and any records that must be retained. Billing and audit records are subject to the retention exceptions below. Shared records are described in the account deletion section above.

Timing and retention

Successful in-app account deletion removes the account during the deletion flow. Online hand-log deletion is processed when it syncs successfully. For emailed requests, we respond within 30 days, or sooner when required by law.

Our Privacy Policy provides for deletion or anonymization of personal data within 30 days after account deletion, except records retained for legal, accounting, or fraud-prevention purposes. Those records may remain longer than 30 days; the period depends on the applicable obligation or purpose, rather than a fixed automatic deletion date. Contact us to ask about a particular retained record.
