Why do some groups let me in right away and others ask to approve me?

Each group chooses how people join — instantly, openly, by request (the host approves you), or by invitation only.

Groups pick the welcome that suits them. You might see any of these:

Join right away — you're a member the moment you join, and signing up for one of the group's events makes you a member automatically too.
Open — anyone is welcome to join, but only if you choose to. Signing up for an event doesn't add you by itself.
Request to join — you ask, and the host approves you. You'll hear back when they do.
Invitation only — the host adds you directly; there's nothing you need to do but accept.

Tip: If you requested to join and are still waiting, the host simply hasn't approved it yet. You can reach out to them directly.
